What is environmental engineering?
Environmental engineering focuses on the disposal of waste, control of pollution of all kinds, and the development of processes and infrastructure for the supply of water. They focus on protecting the environment using their knowledge to maintain clean spaces while also contributing to the good health of the population. They gain knowledge in different disciplines such as chemistry, geology and hydraulics.

What do environmental engineers do?
Environmental engineers work with air pollution control which consist in developing strategies to minimize emission, also work with water and wastewater management which consists of treating wastewater plants, stormwater management and projects related with water resource conservation. These are only a few of h=the things that environmental engineers do, everything that contributes to make a better and sustainable world environmental engineers will be on it.
Women in environmental engineering
Mary Walton resident from Manhattan recognized the adverse effects the industrial revolution had and developed a system to direct smokestack emissions through n water tanks, which were then flushed into the city’s sewage system. Then she also find solutions for noise pollution in which she created a box frame made of wood which helped to absorb vibrations and sound from model trains. She then sold the invention to New York City’s Metropolitan road.
